Each panel slides the full length and then pivots 90°, stacking to one side. In summer the terrace is left practically frameless — at the cost of a parking zone for the panels.

Toughened glass panels slide sideways on tracks and overlap at one end. It seals best of the three, which makes it the one for terraces used in the cold season too — all the more so with the 20 mm insulating glass option.

The panel rises vertically into an overhead casing, with no visible side frames. It doubles as an insulating wall or a balustrade and needs no side room at all.

A retractable fabric tensioned on an aluminium structure. It folds away completely for open sky and costs considerably less, but must be retracted in strong wind and at the end of the season.

Aluminium louvres rotating from flat to nearly vertical, with gutters integrated into the beams and drainage through the posts. You adjust light and ventilation in steps, and the structure stays up all year.

Fabric tensioned in a zip guided by the side rails, so it does not flap and leaves no light gaps at the edges. It cuts solar radiation while keeping the view out — the only system in the family that does not darken the room.

Box and guides are fixed straight to the window frame or to the outside wall — no breaking through, no masonry, no touching the interior finishes. It is the only option on a house that is already finished and lived in.

Wide wooden slats that overlap tightly when closed. The best opacity of the three, and the only option that adds visual warmth to the room.

Two answers to the same problem — controlled shade — behaving very differently in rain, in wind and in upkeep.
